SKAGIT SOLDIER IS KILLED IN ACTION

(Special to The Herald)

MOUNT VERNON, Nov. 29.—Private Alf H. Mason, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Mason, of Skagit City, has been killed in action somewhere in France, according to a telegram received this week by the parents. Alf Mason was with company I, Thirty-ninth infantry, and had been through some very strenuous work on the French battlefields. He was 31 years of age last September, the month he is said to have been killed. Mr. Mason was well liked by all who knew him and is survived by his parents and one brother. His death brings sorrow to many Skagit City people.
