Thomas Burroughs Named as Postmaster at Alexandria, Va.

Washington, D. C., March 3--Thomas Burroughs, a veteran of the 1st Vt. Cav., in the Civil War, and a former resident of East Rupert, Vt., has been appointed postmaster at Alexandria, Va., by President Roosevelt. Mr. Burroughs is a native of England and came to Vermont about four years before the outbreak of the war. Since 1865 he has resided almost continuously in Alexandria and during a greater part of the time has been connected with the postoffice as assistant postmaster.
