Robert Neil "Bob" Ramsey

Robert Neil (Bob) Ramsey passed away in Seguin, TX on December 26, 2010 , at the age of 79. A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Kevin Dellaria and Rev. Samuel Gottlich officiating. A reception will follow in McKeogh Hall. Private interment will follow later in the St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Columbarium. Mr. Ramsey was born in Honey Grove, TX on September 3, 1931 to Thomas and Lora Witcher Ramsey. Bob graduated from Honey Grove High School and joined the US Navy at the age of 17. He served in the US Navy before and during the Korean War. He was an aide to Admiral Burk and Admiral Newhouse in Japan and later, served on the submarine U.S.S. Corsair (SS-435) which was based in New London, Connecticut. On board the Corsair, Bob travelled many places including Iceland and Bermuda. Bob met his wife Ann Paul in New York and they married on September 13, 1953. He was a 1959 graduate of Texas A&M University. He spent his career as a soil scientist with the Soil Conservation Service in the Seguin and New Braunfels area, Del Rio, and Temple, retiring after 30 years. Survivors include his wife Ann; son, Steven Ramsey and wife Gail Heinemeyer Ramsey of Geronimo; daughter, Sally Ann Smith and husband Scott of Houston; son, Matthew Ramsey and wife Lisa Sipe Ramsey of Allen ; grandchildren, Ryan and Evan Ramsey, Thomas and Allison Smith, and Christopher, Jeffrey and Ashlen Ramsey; brother, Jack Ramsey and wife Mary of Colorado and numerous nieces and nephews. Ann would like to thank Windsor Nursing Home and Odyssey Hospice for their care of Bob during his illness. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew’s Chapel Fund, 201E.
