Spanish—American War Veteran Laid To Rest Saturday
John H. Chapman, 78, who lived four miles West of Cross Plains on the Coleman highway, died early Friday morning in a veteran’s hospital at Legion, Texas, where he had been taken five days before. Funeral services were conducted from the local Church of Christ and interment was made in the Cross Plains cemetery.
Mr. Chapman, a long time resident of this section, had been in declining health for some time and his condition had been known to be extremely critical for several weeks.
Mr. Chapman, who was a veteran of the Spanish-American war, is survived by his widow, one son and one daughter.
Pallbearers of the funeral Saturday afternoon were: Fred W. Stacy,
[illegible] Wilson, Ed Henderson, Barton Lacy, Doyle Neeb and Earl C. Mayes.
Funeral arrangements were in the charge of Higginbotham's, Cross Plains.
