Hopkins County Men Reported as Casualties
SULPHUR SPRINGS, Texas, Dec. 14.—Mr. and Mrs. Louis Moore of Galford’s Chapel have received word that their son, Staff Sgt. Jeff Moore, has been wounded in the Philippines and is now in a hospital in new Guinea.
Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Pearce have received a telegram stating that their son, Pvt. Frank Pearce, Army Engineers, was wounded in action in France Nov. 20. Private Pearce is with the famous 26th Division and has also served in the North African, Sicilian, and Italian campaigns.
Basil B. Kelty, fireman first class, was one of the survivors of the Aircraft Carrier St. Lo., which was sunk in the battle of the Philippines Oct. 25, according to word received by his father, T. J. Kelty of this city. Fireman Kelty is now in a rest camp in Canada.
Mrs. T. W. Moore has received word that her husband, Sgt. Thomas W. Moore, was seriously wounded in action in Italy Nov. 16. Sergeant Moore has seen service for five years and has been overseas a years.
Mrs. Blanche Casey has received word that her husband, Pvt. E. J. Casey Jr., was wounded in action in France, Nov. 14.
Louis Jennings of Saltillo has been killed in action in France. His wife and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Jennings, live here.
Mr. and Mrs. Warren Gammill have been notified that their son, Pfc. Morris Gammill, has been wounded in action in the Philippines.
