Ex-Hendrick Nurse Dies in Plane Crash

A former Hendrick Memorial Hospital Nurse was killed Tuesday aboard a Navy plane enroute to Korea when it crashed in the vicinity of the Marshall Islands.

She was Ens. Marie Boatman, 24, who served on the staff of Hendrick Memorial for a year during 1948. Miss Boatman had friends and relatives in Abilene.

A Navy Department message telling of her death was received by her parents, the Rev. and Mrs. C. O. Boatman of San Antonio, Wednesday.

Ens. Boatman went into Navy nursing immediately after leaving Hendrick Memorial, and was stationed at Long Beach, Calif., prior to her orders to go to Korea.

Abilene relatives of Ens. Boatman include: Dr. and Mrs. Harold Bochning, Mr. and Mrs. J. Harvey Clark, and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Clark, all aunts and uncles; and Mrs. L. C. Maker, a first cousin.
