Corporal Alley was a member of the Heavy Mortar Company, 179th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division. He was involved in a truck accident and taken to the 46th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH), where he died on April 17, 1953. Corporal Alley was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
