Clark, W. A. - Capt
We are deeply pained to learn that our friend Capt. W. A. Clark, died in Richmond, Feb. 25th, of Pneumonia.
Captain Clark was a young man whom to know was to love. He enlisted at the beginning of the war in Co. A, 5th Texas as a private, and was subseqently [sic] promoted to be Captain of Ordinance. And was on duty connected with that branch of the service when he died. He visited us in Houston in November inst. About New Years he left Shreveport under orders for Richmond, since which we have heard nothing from him till we received a notice of his death in a private letter from Lieut. Fuller.
Capt. Clark was the soul of honor and generosity. He strove to do his duty while he lived and we trust he has gone to a better world. His memory will be cherished by his friends, and such was his amiability of character we cannot believe he left an enemy behind him.
