Hunter, Mathew

Mathew Hunter [born in 1792]. His father was a native of Scotland and came to Pennsylvania at a very early clay. He was a land surveyor and surveyed much of the domain of which Mercer county now constitutes a part. He received land warrants in payment for such surveying, thus obtaining several hundred acres of valuable land. He was a soldier in the war of 1812, being in the One Hundred and Thirty-fifth Pennsylvania Militia. He was buried in West Salem, Rock Ridge burial ground.
