Whalan, William

WILLIAM WHALAN was born in Ireland, and by occupation was a cooper ; he enlisted April 1st, 1864, aged thirty-two years, and joined the Regiment May 3d, 1864 ; he participated in the following battles : the Wilderness, Po River, Spottsylvania, North Anna River, Tolopotomoy, Cold Harbor and Petersburg ; on the 16th of June 1864 he was severely wounded in action in front of Petersburg, and was discharged on account of wounds October 8th, 1864. Co. E, 126th Regiment Infantry New York, Disaster, struggle, triumph. Dedicated to the 126th Regiment of New York State Volunteers, 1870
