Battersby, John A. - Sgt


John A. Battersby, 80, husband of Mrs. Loretta Hurley Battersby, 201 Passaic Street, died this morning in Philadelphia Naval Hospital after an illness of several weeks. He was a sergeant in World War I and served overseas with the infantry. He held membership in the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen; Trenton Council, No. 355, Knights of Columbus; Trenton Lodge, No. 164, Loyal Order of Moose; the Holy Name Society and Parent-Teacher Association of St. Mary’s Cathedral, and the Neptune Fire Company of Burlington.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his father, John J. Battersby of Burlington; a daughter, Claire; a son, Corporal John A., in Italy, and a sister, Mrs. Harold Hennessy of Burlington.

Arrangements are being completed by John A. Hartmann.
