Riggins, Holland - Capt

Former Prinicpal of East Rutherford High School Was in the New York Guard Division

Captain Holland Riggings, who was Principal of the East Rutherford (N.J.) High School when Congress declared war, and who was in command of Company E of the 107th Infantry, has been killed in action. His widow is a teacher in the Lincoln School at East Rutherford, and had just dismissed her class on Thursday in order to permit the pupils to celebrate the false news of Germany's surrender, when she received word of her husband's death in action in France. The news came from Captain Allen of the 107th Infantry. Captain Riggins was trained at Fort Hamilton and was transferred to the New York Division from the 3d Division of Regulars. He was a graduate of St. John's College at Annapolis.
