Bodies of Area Veterans Being Returned
The bodies of two Minnesota and three Wisconsin area servicemen are included in the latest shipment of war dead from the Pacific being returned for reburial.
Those from Minnesota are Private First Class Robert F. Stoltman, 712 East Fourth street, Winona.
Private Stoltman, 22, died November 20, 1944, in a New Guinea hospital of a liver disease. He had been in New Guinea since December, 1943. Inducted May 22, 1942, he attended St. Stanislaus grade school and Winona High school. He is the son of Mrs. Mary Stoltman, 712 East Fourth street.
The bodies are being returned from Manila aboard the United States Army Transport Lieutenant George W. F. Boyce. The arrival will be announced by the San Francisco port of embarkation.
The dead were originally buried in temporary military cemeteries in New Guinea and the Philippine islands. A total of 4,459 dead are being returned with 102 from Minnesota and 101 from Wisconsin.
