Defender of New Ulm Dead.

NEW ULM, Minn., Jan 11. -- Jacob Nix, captain of Company L, First regiment, Mounted Rangers, and later captain of Company G, Second regiment cavalry, who so gallantly defended New Ulm during the Indian massacre in 1863, died at his home during the afternoon. The deceased was about 72 years old and a resident of this city since 1858.
