Sammis, David L.

David L. Sammis died April 6, 1904 in Peabody, Kansas. He was born in Springfield, Mass., in 1840; enlisted from South Deerfield, September 9, 1862, as Private in Co. C., 52d Massachusetts Volunteer Militia for nine months; discharged August 14, 1863. He came to town soon after the close of the war and for some twelve or fourteen years conducted a dry goods busi?ness at the present stand of the Goodnow store. He removed from here about 1880 to Kansas.
