Allen, Samuel H. - Col


Col. Samuel H. Allen, 79, recently governor of the national home for disabled volunteer soldiers at Togus, died in that town yesterday. He was made major of the 1st Maine cavalry at the outbreak of the civil war, and a year later was promoted to the rank of colonel. He was also at that time military governor of Frederick, Md. In 1897 he was appointed governor of the soldier's home.
