Son of James L. and Gertrude Yerkes; born February 18,
1899, Deer Creek Township, Cass County, Ind. Telegrapher,
Pennsylvania Railroad. Enlisted in Signal Corps, U.S. Army,
January 4, 1918, and was sent to Ft. Thomas, Ky. Transferred
to Ft. Wood, N. Y.; assigned to 8th Field Signal Battalion.
Transferred to Camp Greene, S. C, where he died of measles
February 7, 1918. Buried in Walton, Cass County, Ind.
