Alden, Spencer Thorndyke - Ensign

ALDEN, SPENCER THORNDYKE - - - Ensign Son of Samuel Rockwell and Carrie Savin Alden; a lineal descendant of John Alden; born July 4, 1894, Traverse Bay, Mich. Educated in Michigan University, and Cornell University. Enlisted in U.S. Navy April 12, 1917. Trained at Norfolk Naval Station, and Pensacola, Fla. Commissioned Ensign. Appointed Naval Aviator Pilot. Transferred to Naval Aviation Station, Bayshore, L. I. Killed in airplane accident March 4, 1918, Great South Bay. Buried with military honors in Greenwood Cemetery, New York City.
