Son of John W. and Margaret E. Derr; born February 12,
1897, Plainfield, Hendricks County, Ind. Express messenger.
Entered service May 27, 1917, Canton, Ohio. Sent to Camp
Gordon, Ga.; assigned to Company K, 5th Replacement Regi-
ment. Embarked September 14, 1917. Died of pneumonia
October 3, 1917, Paignton, England. Body returned to U.S.,
and buried at Clayton, Ind.
