Son of Beverly and Elizabeth Girdley; born November 24,
1893, Louisville, Ky. Moved to Harrison County, Ind.,
October 21, 1899. Farmer. Entered service September 20,
1917, Corydon, Ind. Trained at Camp Taylor, Ky., and Camp
Sherman, Ohio. Assigned to Company C, 335th Infantry;
Company L, 335th Infantry. Overseas September 3, 1918;
assigned to Company D, 28th Infantry, 1st Division. Killed
in action November 7, 1918, Sedan, France. Buried in Har-
rison County, Ind.
