Callender, Delbert Francis


Son of Emma Callender Fields; born December 26, 1901,
Gravelton, Kosciusko County, Ind. Living in Elkhart County,
when he enlisted in U.S. Regular Army, December 22, 1916,
Elkhart, Ind. Sent to Columbus Barracks, Ohio; assigned to
Supply Company B, 18th Infantry. Promoted to Wagoner.
Transferred to Ft. Bliss, Tex.; then Douglas, Ariz. Saw service
on Mexican Border. Overseas in June, 1917. Killed in action
June 16, 1918. Buried at Paillart, France; Grave No. 7.
