Caldwell, W. W. - Col.


Colonel W. W. Caldwell, the well-known insurance man, died of apoplexy at his home, No. 234 Park avenue, yesterday. He was connected as Western representative with several prominent insurance companies. Colonel Caldwell was a Kentuckian, being born at Lexington in that State, Aug. 3, 1835. He was Colonel of the Twenty-third Indiana Regiment when only 23 years of age. He afterward was appointed to the command of the Eighty-first Indiana and served, all through the war. He leaves a widow and two children. The body will be shipped for interment to Louisville, Ky.
