Shelley, Charles M. - Gen.


BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Jan. 20.---Gen. Charles M. Shelley died here at an early hour this morning after a lingering illness. He was born in 1833, in Sullivan County, Tenn., and served through the Civil War, being a brigadier-general in the Confederate Army. Gen. Shelley served through four terms in Congress while he was living at Selma, Ala. He has been prominent in political affairs of the State since the war. He leaves a daughter, Miss Elizabeth Shelley, and a son, Lieut. J. E. Shelley, of the U. S. A., who is now stationed in Cuba.
