Dr. Matthew Leepers.

New York, June 4.---Dr. Matthew Leepers died today of dropsy at Glencoe, L. I. He was born in Fayetteville, Ark., in 1854. At 18 years he became an Indian Interpreter of the United States Government, and in three years was made a commissioner officeer of the Fourth United States cavalry. For ten years he saw active service. In the West, and on several occasions received honorable mention for bravery in battles with Indians. Later he studied medicine and practiced in Chicago until the Spanish War broke out, when he enlisted as a volunteer surgeon. For the last year and a half he has been president of the board of health of he Island of Mindoso. He returned from the Philippines less than two years ago.
