Death of J. C. McEachern.
Eufaula, May 8.---(Special.)--J. C. McEachern, an old an highly esteemed citizen died at his home here last night after a long illness. He served through the Civil War. He volunteered with the 2nd Alabama regiment in which he was a second lieutenant and was a prisoner at Johnson's Island when the war came to a close. He was in the seige of Port Hudson for forty-nine days and bore the reputation of being a fearless and gallant soldier. He was for a number of years a prominent citizen of Clayton and moved here just after the war where he has constantly resided. He was about 63 years old and has been a life long member of the Presbyterian Church. His wife and a son and daughter, both of whom are grown survive him. The funeral will occur tomorrow and his remains will be interred here.
